Rep. Hope to Deliver

From the Lake Stevens Journal - Feb 16, 2012

OLYMPIA – On Saturday, February 18, 2012, State Representative Mike Hope (R-Lake Stevens) will deliver the keynote address to a large group of 4-H community leaders who will be gathering in Olympia for their annual Washington State 4-H Know Your Government Conference.

Rep. Hope’s speech will detail the success of his “100 Ideas Initiative” which started last spring as a non-partisan project designed to solicit the best ideas for WA State’s future. For over a year, Rep. Hope has traveled the state hosting IdeaRaisers which are public meetings designed to encourage input and discussion about creative ways to drive WA forward.

A recent submission to the 100 Ideas website, www.100ideaswa.org, included the idea for a motion picture tax credit to encourage producers and movie makers to film in WA State, hiring locally and generating revenue for our communities. This year, SB 5539 was reintroduced and received broad support in the Senate. Currently, it awaits a hearing in the House Committee on Community & Economic Development & Housing.

“4-H is a great organization that helps thousands of young people, not only across our state, but also across the nation. Being able to join them for a 100 Ideas presentation, while encouraging civic engagement, is exactly the reason we created this initiative,” said Rep. Hope.

100 Ideas will continue to hold community events around the state, operating through 2012, serving as a clearinghouse for quality public policy ideas generated from the electorate. Saturday’s event will be held at the Red Lion Hotel in Olympia starting at 5:30PM.
